Abstract

Language:

Electrolyte plasma processing is an environment-friendly and highly effective method for treating surfaces of metals and alloys, suitable for heat or thermochemical treatment as well as for cleaning or polishing metal surfaces. This study explores the modes of processes in the electrolytic cell tailored for different metals, indicating the potential for simultaneous or distinct processing of various metals, including the components of bimetals. The article delineates the operational modalities established at the active electrode during the anodic process and their application across diverse bimetal treatment types. Findings reveal the feasibility of separate or concurrent heat or thermochemical treatment and polishing of one or both surfaces of bimetals, thereby expanding the applicability of electrolyte plasma processing in industries utilizing bimetals for their unique properties, such as high corrosion resistance combined with strength and manufacturability. Overall, this research highlights the versatility and efficiency of the electrolyte plasma technique in enhancing the functional characteristics of bimetals.
