Abstract

Language:

In the manufacturing industry, the use of conventional cutting fluids during machining is crucial; however, their excessive disposal leads to significant environmental concerns. As a result, alternative methods that reduce the reliance on these cutting fluids are being sought after. One promising approach is the application of minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) technique, particularly with the incorporation of nanoparticle-enriched cutting fluids. This paper presents a comprehensive review of existing research on MQL application across various machining processes including turning, milling, grinding, and drilling, while also addressing the challenges posed by hard-to-machine alloys. Furthermore, the discussion briefly covers cryogenic MQL and suggests opportunities for future research in this area. The primary objective of this study is to serve as a quick reference for researchers involved in exploring the practical applications of MQL lubricants enhanced with nanopowders in machining operations involving diverse materials.
