Sulfi de concentrates are essential raw materials in metallic copper production, as their roasting processes yield various products, such as copper sulphate and iron oxides. This study aimed to investigate the thermodynamics and kinetics of the roasting reaction system involving copper and iron sulfides, providing insights into necessary conditions for selectively obtaining specific compounds. Using a sulfi de concentrate from a national metallic occurrence, conventional techniques like X-Ray Diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy were applied for material characterization. The results indicated that the obtained materials exhibited copper and sulfur levels of approximately 27% and 14%, respectively. Additionally, solubilisation tests demonstrated a mass loss of about 77%, reflecting the significant solubility of these elements and leading to the generation of a filtered material rich in hematite (Fe2O3) and quartz (SiO2). The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the reaction system and offer a foundation for optimizing copper recovery processes through targeted roasting conditions.
