Abstract

Language:

This paper investigates the historical development and connection between chemistry and electricity, highlighting significant contributions by various scientists over the years, including Alessandro Volta's discovery of the voltaic cell and the decomposition of water by Nicholson and Carlisle in 1800. The study outlines how electrodynamic theories have evolved, showcasing Berzelius's proposition that all atoms are electrified, leading to further advancements in electrolysis and chemical bonding theories, notably through the work of Lewis and Faraday. The findings reveal a direct relationship between electric charge and the quantity of electrolysis products, while also touching upon the societal receptiveness to the concept of the electron. By analyzing these foundational concepts and experiments, the research underscores the pivotal role that electricity has played in shaping the field of chemistry and its ongoing impact on scientific progress.
