Abstract

Language:

Power factor (PF) is a measure of energy efficiency, expressed as a percentage, representing the ratio of real power in kilowatts to apparent power in kilovolts amperes. In this study, we analyze the importance of improving PF through the application of capacitor banks in a Lebanese case study. By examining the economic benefits of power factor correction, this research reveals that improving PF results in reduced electricity costs, demonstrated by a 15 percent reduction in total expenses. The study emphasizes the critical role of reactive power management in enhancing real power availability and overall energy efficiency, thereby lowering power bills and improving voltage conditions for both utilities and end-users. Our findings substantiate that better power factor practices yield significant economic advantages, confirming the necessity of adopting verified techniques to optimize electricity usage.
