Abstract

Language:

The reconstruction of paleosurfaces represents a unique tool to access the evolution of ancient continents. This study aims to investigate the paleomagnetic age and magneto-mineralogic implications for the Triassic paleosurface in Europe. By presenting data collected from various European sites, we apply paleomagnetic analysis to deduce the ages and conditions of the Triassic weathering events. Results indicate a significant correlation between the paleomagnetic data and the geodynamic evolution of the crystalline complexes. Furthermore, our findings provide insights into the erosion and stability rates influencing the ancient landscapes. The advanced mineralogical understanding obtained highlights specific conditions linked to the Triassic paleoweathering events. This interdisciplinary approach enhances our understanding of past geological processes and supports future research on ancient surface conditions in Europe.
