The Mt Sabalan geothermal field in NW Iran is undergoing development, and a double flash cycle has been chosen for power generation. This study aims to analyze the performance of the proposed geothermal power plant. Mathematical models were developed and utilized within the Engineering Equation Solver (EES) software to assess energy and exergy flows. The results demonstrated that the maximum achievable power output from the plant is 54 MWe, with pressure targets of 5.5 and 0.1 bar for the high and low pressure stages, respectively. The calculated energy and exergy rates of the waste brine were determined to be 18.7% and 15.8% of the total energy and exergy rates, indicating its potential for further use in district heating systems or other applications. Additionally, various components of the system, such as the lower pressure turbine and separator, were evaluated for exergy destruction. The overall exergy efficiency was calculated at 45.2%, and the energy efficiency at 9.4%. This exergy analysis has proven to be a significant and useful tool in evaluating the geothermal plant's performance and should be integrated into the initial design phases.
