Cement Treated Base (CTB) is a pavement layer situated between the sub-base and surface layers, utilizing fine aggregate and cement as binders. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of using fly ash, a byproduct of coal combustion, as a partial substitute for cement in CTB mixtures. The methodology involved preparing mixtures consisting of fine sand, varying proportions of Portland cement, fly ash, and water, followed by conducting compressive strength tests to determine their mechanical properties. The specifications for CTB require compressive strength test results to fall between 45 kg/cm² and 55 kg/cm² after 7 days of curing. The results indicated that a composition comprising 70% fine aggregate, 5% Portland cement, and 25% fly ash achieved an average compressive strength of 49.823 kg/cm². These findings suggest that fly ash can be effectively used as a sustainable alternative to cement in CTB applications, contributing to improved material performance and environmental benefits.
