The development of agriculture in Qinghai Province faces challenges due to geographical location, climate conditions, and inefficient water use. This study aims to establish an index system for agricultural zoning that considers topography, climate, water resources, and crop cultivation. The methodology involved identifying four level 1 and ten level 2 indicators to create a comprehensive index system. The results indicate that while agricultural production is hindered by factors such as insufficient rainfall and significant vertical climate variations, favorable conditions such as abundant sunlight and large land areas can still support crop growth. It is crucial to consider regional characteristics when implementing water-efficient agricultural development models. This study concludes that a tailored approach to agricultural water-saving zoning can enhance the efficiency of agriculture and water resources in Qinghai Province.
