The course curriculum for Mass Transfer-I aims to develop competencies in students enrolled in the Chemical Engineering diploma program during their 4th semester. The rationale behind the curriculum is to facilitate learning outcomes related to mass transfer operations, which are critical in both the preliminary purification of raw materials and the final separation of products in chemical plants. The objectives of the course focus on equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to supervise and operate various mass-transfer equipment effectively. The methodology employed includes a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practical sessions designed to reinforce the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains of learning. Key outcomes include the ability to discuss mass transfer fundamentals, evaluate gas diffusivity, explain equilibrium and resistance concepts, perform material balance calculations for absorption processes, and provide insights into various extraction and leaching techniques. The evaluation scheme comprises both theoretical and practical assessments, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of mass-transfer fundamentals. This curriculum aims to meet educational standards and enhance students' readiness for careers in the field of chemical engineering.
