Abstract

Language:

This report presents a comprehensive deposit model for nickel-cobalt laterites, which are significant sources of these critical metals. The objective of this work is to provide detailed insights into the formation, composition, and occurrence of nickel-cobalt laterite deposits, aiding in resource assessment for mineral exploration. Utilizing a combination of geological survey data and extensive literature review, the methodology involved the characterization of deposit types, associated commodities, and the geological processes leading to the formation of these laterites. The results outline key features that distinguish various nickel-cobalt laterite deposits, including mineralogical and geochemical attributes, weathering processes, and spatial distribution. This information is intended to support scientists and industry professionals in understanding the complexities of nickel-cobalt laterites, ultimately contributing to more informed resource management and exploration strategies.
