Abstract

Language:

This text-book constitutes Part I of 'Engineering Metallurgy' and is intended primarily for students taking metallurgy as an examination subject for a Higher National Certificate in Mechanical or Production Engineering. The objective of this work is to provide a comprehensive foundation in applied physical metallurgy, focusing on essential concepts and practices relevant to the field. The methodology adopted includes a systematic presentation of metallurgical processes, materials behavior, and analytical techniques. Throughout the text, various pedagogical tools are utilized to enhance understanding and facilitate learning among undergraduates studying metallurgy as an ancillary subject in their Engineering Degree courses. The results indicate that the book serves as a valuable resource for students aiming to grasp critical aspects of metallurgy, preparing them for examinations and professional applications. Furthermore, insights into the evolving role of scientists and engineers in the industry are provided, reflecting the changes in educational needs over the decades. The author aims to inspire future metallurgists and engineers through an engaging and informative approach to the subject matter.
