Traditionally, mass transfer measurements in air have been made using a solid subliming into a flowing air stream. This study investigates an alternative method for mass transfer measurement using laser holography, inspired by the techniques of prior researchers. Specifically, the research focuses on the performance of a polymer film coated on a vertical plate and assesses its mass transfer characteristics by analyzing the shrinkage of the coating due to the transfer of a swelling agent into the air stream. An experimental setup was introduced where interference fringes are recorded using double exposure photography, enabling the determination of spatial variations in mass transfer rates. The results exhibit unexpected fringe patterns, revealing complex interactions under different flow scenarios. Furthermore, the research seeks to quantify the spatial variation of the mass transfer coefficients when employing various swelling agents and different geometries of air jets. This communication serves as a prompt for further studies in the field of mass transfer, highlighting the efficacy of the laser holographic approach as a powerful tool for analyzing mass transfer phenomena.
