This paper presents a comparative performance analysis between analog and digital controllers on a DC/DC buck-boost converter designed for mobile device applications. The research objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of both control methods in managing the converter's operation. To achieve this, a modeling approach is utilized, where the power electronic converter circuit is designed using a closed-loop scheme, subsequently simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The study encompasses both buck (step-down) and boost (step-up) operational modes of the DC/DC buck-boost converter. Results demonstrate that each control method exhibits distinct advantages depending on specific operational contexts, particularly in terms of response time and efficiency across varying load conditions. The findings provide insights into optimizing power management in portable electronic devices, thereby contributing to advancements in electronic design for enhanced battery performance and operational longevity.
