Abstract

Language:

Participatory modeling is an essential approach for facilitating stakeholder engagement in decision-making processes, particularly in complex environmental problems. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the tools and methods utilized in participatory modeling, focusing on how to select appropriate tools for specific tasks. The methodology involves a review of existing literature, case studies, and expert insights to identify various tools and their applicability in different contexts. Results indicate that the selection process should consider factors such as stakeholder needs, the complexity of the problem, and the objectives of the modeling effort. Furthermore, the findings underscore the importance of adapting tools to fit the specific context and ensuring that they are user-friendly to enhance stakeholder engagement. By presenting a framework for tool selection, this study contributes to improving the effectiveness of participatory modeling practices in diverse environmental management scenarios.
