Abstract

Language:

Electrochemical machining (ECM) is an innovative anodic electrochemical dissolution process that uses a D.C. voltage to dissolve metal workpieces without damaging their structural integrity. This review aims to investigate the current advancements and ongoing research in the field of ECM. The methodology involves analyzing various studies and experiments conducted on ECM, focusing on its principles, applications, and benefits over traditional machining methods. Findings indicate that ECM allows for high material removal rates and can be applied to materials irrespective of their hardness, leading to minimal tool wear and the ability to produce complex geometries with superior surface finishes. The review highlights the critical developments in ECM since its inception, particularly in the aerospace and manufacturing industries, where its advantages have positioned it as a pivotal process for creating intricate components. By synthesizing the existing literature, this research underscores the potential of ECM to address modern manufacturing challenges and outlines future avenues for exploration in its application and technological improvements.
