The study investigates the behavior and transport parameters of chromium in soil-water systems, addressing its toxicological impacts on biological organisms and its environmental prevalence. The objective is to understand the mobility and speciation of chromium, particularly focusing on its oxidation states which vary among +2 to +6. Methodologically, the study employs various analytical techniques for chromium detection, including atomic absorption spectroscopy and emission spectroscopy, while also considering the influence of pH and redox potential on chromium's chemical forms. Key findings indicate that chromium concentrations are significantly influenced by anthropogenic activities and environmental conditions, with chromium(VI) predominantly found in oxidizing environments, while chromium(III) is more stable in reducing conditions. The introduced calculation method proves to be rapid and produces sufficiently accurate results for preliminary assessments of chromium transport in soil-water systems. This research adds to the understanding of chromium dynamics in natural environments, emphasizing the role of chemical interactions in determining its mobility and potential environmental risks.
