As populations increase, so does the demand for essential resources such as metals, including nickel, silver, gold, copper, and uranium. This increased need compels the industry to adopt efficient processing methods, particularly heap leaching, which has gained prominence due to its cost-effectiveness. This article outlines the heap leaching process, focusing on recent advancements such as agglomeration technology, which enhances the efficiency of metal extraction from low-grade ores. By using a rotary ore agglomerator, the heap leaching process significantly improves the percolation and flow of leaching solutions through finely crushed ore, minimizing the issues associated with un-agglomerated fine particles. The innovative approach of pre-treating ore fines results in enhanced leach effectiveness, reduced leaching time, and improved metal recovery rates. Moreover, agglomeration promotes a more porous material that allows for larger heap piles and reduces operational costs. This comprehensive overview highlights the role of rotary agglomerators in optimizing heap leaching operations, reinforcing the importance of these advancements in addressing the growing resource demands.
