Abstract

Language:

This chapter explores the processes of leaching arsenides in the context of metallurgy, focusing on the recovery of arsenic from various arsenic-containing ores. The objective of this study is to delineate the methods employed in leaching arsenic and the impact of oxidizing agents. Methodologically, the chapter details different leaching processes, including acid leaching, alkaline leaching, and the utilization of oxidizing agents, alongside their operational parameters such as temperature and pressure. Results indicate that oxidation processes yield arsenates which can be separated from nonferrous metals, although they may also contribute to environmental pollution. Additionally, alkaline leaching effectively preserves metal values while solubilizing arsenic and sulfur, leading to the formation of insoluble residues. The analysis provided demonstrates the composition of arsenic minerals and the efficacy of these leaching techniques in extracting valuable metals while minimizing arsenic in solution. Overall, this work contributes to a clearer understanding of the principles of extractive metallurgy as applied to arsenic recovery.
