This paper addresses the growing demand for safe and reliable photovoltaic (PV) energy generation in the context of positive solar energy trends observed worldwide. The objective is to provide guidance on the selection of low voltage switchgears and circuit protection components suited for various types of photovoltaic electrical architectures, ensuring both safety and operational efficiency. The methodology involves outlining safety measures during normal operations, maintenance, and emergency situations, including the protection against electric shock, overcurrent, and overvoltage through established standards and practices. Results indicate that by employing recommended protection devices, PV systems can minimize risks associated with reverse currents and thermal effects, thereby enhancing overall system reliability. The paper emphasizes the critical aspects of product selection, installation rules, and the management of safety throughout the PV installation's life cycle, contributing to the field of renewable energy technology and its industrial application.
