This work aims to precipitate cadmium and zinc in the cobalt circuit of the Metalkol plant. In fact, MET ALKOL has a serious problem of contamination of Musonoi discharges by zinc and cadmium coming from Ex-UZK wastes. These two metals go into solution during leaching and end up in the LG raff that feeds the cobalt circuit. This work proposes two precipitating agents: alumina powder ALAK 45 Oxide and the surfactant CadAx-9. Experiments were conducted on synthetic and industrial solutions from Metalkol. The dosage of the reagents, time, and pH were varied to precipitate zinc and cadmium. Tests with the surfactant CadAx-9, at a dosage of 2500 ppm, pH of 6, and a time of 75 minutes, yielded precipitation efficiencies of 88.3% and 76.4% for Cd and Zn, respectively, with abundant foam present in the circuit. For alumina powder ALAK 45 OXIDE, results indicate that at a pH of 6.0, a dosage of 1500 ppm, and a time of 45 minutes, optimal yields are 98.3% and 98.4% for zinc and cadmium, respectively. These results show that alumina-based powder provides better precipitation yields for zinc and cadmium, while the surfactant CadAx-9 is suitable only for cadmium precipitation.
