This study investigates the hydrodynamic characteristics of three-phase fluidized beds, specifically focusing on parameters such as gas holdup, local gas holdup, bubble rise velocity, minimum fluidization velocity, and superficial gas velocity, as well as the rheological properties of the liquids involved. The experimental design utilizes a gas-liquid-solid fluidized bed system established within a QVF glass column measuring 0.106 m in internal diameter and 2 m in height. A perforated Teflon plate serves as the gas distributor with 53 holes of 7 mm diameter and a free surface area of 23.11%. Four concentrations of Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, ranging from 0.1% to 2% by weight, represent the non-Newtonian liquids employed. Air, O2, and CO2 gases are introduced at superficial velocities from 0.03 to 1.4 m/s, while activated carbon and Ni-Mo/Al2O3 are the solid phases used, with specified densities and sizes. The findings reveal a strong correlation between gas holdup and the dimensionless groups and independent parameters, achieving a correlation coefficient of 0.9929, resulting in a detailed correlation model which is discussed within the context of fluid dynamics.
