Abstract

Language:

The iron and steel industry is crucial for Ukraine's economy, constituting 40% of export revenue, 27% of industrial production, and employing over half a million people. This study presents the current state of Ukraine's iron and steel industry based on data regarding raw materials, industrial facilities, and production and export structure. The environmental impact is significant, with the sector responsible for 38% of industrial pollution. Current challenges such as energy inefficiency, quality of mineral resources, facility obsolescence, overcapacity, and export dependency are analyzed. The paper also provides an overview of ongoing and future modernization efforts aimed at enhancing competitiveness in the global market.
