This study investigates the effect of curing temperature on the thermal expansion and phase composition of hydrated limestone-slag cements. The materials examined include ordinary portland cement (OPC), granulated blast-furnace slag (GBFSC), and limestone. It was found that the slag cement with limestone exhibits lower thermal expansion and shrinkage coefficient compared to pure OPC pastes, primarily due to the pozzolanic activity of the slag and the filler effect of limestone. Partial replacement of slag with five percent limestone improved the compressive strength. As the curing temperature decreased, the C-S-H phase precipitated in pores capable of accommodating larger amounts of hydration products, leading to higher relative compressive strength of GBFSC pastes compared to OPC pastes. However, when limestone content increased to 15%, compressive strength decreased. The presence of 15% limestone altered the shape of C-S-H crystals from needle-like to flocculent with smaller Ca(OH)2 needles, indicating changes in microstructural characteristics.
