This study investigates the influence of solid concentration and liquid viscosity on the properties of bubbles in a slurry bubble column, using a dual-electroresistivity probe with a diameter of 0.15 m. The objective is to clarify how these factors affect bubble characteristics, such as size and rising velocity. The methodology includes measuring the volume-surface mean bubble diameter (dvs) and analyzing how the bubble size distribution and velocity distribution change under different conditions. Results indicate that the addition of solid particles at lower gas velocities leads to a shift in bubble size distribution towards larger bubbles and an increase in bubble rising velocity. The flow pattern transitions from homogeneous to heterogeneous as solid concentration increases. However, the effect of solid particles becomes less significant with smaller particle diameters or higher liquid viscosities. An equation is derived to estimate the volume-surface mean bubble diameter, providing insights into the hydrodynamic behavior in slurry bubble columns. This research contributes to the understanding of bubble dynamics in chemical reactors and can aid in the design of more efficient industrial processes.
