Abstract

Language:

This paper explores the preservation and significance of the Albanian tongue, referred to as Shqip, from its origins to contemporary usage. The objective is to highlight the role of the Albanian language in the articulation of cultural identity and its enduring presence through time. Utilizing a descriptive methodology, the research examines both historical and modern manifestations of Shqip, tracing its linguistic evolution and the impacts of educational practices on its preservation. Results indicate that Shqip has maintained its core elements despite external influences and changes, with a particular emphasis on its written forms. The paper underscores the importance of recognizing the distinction between the local designation of the language by its speakers and the externally imposed term 'Albanian.' Through careful analysis, the study not only affirms the lasting legacy of Shqip but also advocates for its continued prominence in both academic discourse and everyday communication. The findings emphasize the need for a renewed appreciation of the language and its cultural significance among speakers and scholars alike.
