Abstract

Language:

This study investigates the petrological characteristics of the Triassic paleosurface in the Northern Bohemian Massif, which has significant implications for understanding geological processes. The objective was to analyze the albitization processes affecting the rocks in the area, as well as to relate these findings to the broader context of Triassic sedimentary and igneous formations. A detailed geological survey coupled with mineralogical analyses was employed to characterize the albitization phenomenon, which is marked by the transformation of primary plagioclases into secondary albite. The results indicate that albitization is prevalent within this geological setting and is primarily linked to magmatic-derived hydrothermal brines and alkaline metasomatism, challenging previous interpretations. The study highlights the complexity of albitization processes and their connection to ancient environmental conditions during the Triassic period. Overall, the findings contribute valuable knowledge towards the understanding of mineral transformation and alteration in sedimentary environments, offering insights into geological history and paleoenvironments. This work underscores the necessity for further investigation into the mineralogical interplay between different alteration processes and their regional implications.
