This paper discusses the layout and design of a modern gold concentrator, specifically detailing the Kiena Gold Mines Limited project located in northwestern Quebec. The objective of the presentation was to showcase a recent project as a case study in response to an invitation to present at the McGill Mineral Processing of Gold Ores Seminar. Methodologically, the paper outlines the engineering process undertaken by Kilborn Limited over the past two years, highlighting the enhancements made to the concentrator to accommodate an annual production rate of 273,000 tonnes. Key results include modifications to the ore storage facilities, grinding systems, and various processing circuits including carbon-in-pulp and tailings management strategies. The refined designs and operational efficiencies achieved present a comprehensive look at modern practices in gold ore processing facilities, demonstrating Kilborn's contributions to the field.
