Abstract

Language:

The context of this research centers on the end of the Linear Pottery culture in Central Europe, emphasizing cultural transitions and continuity. The objective was to explore the implications of archaeological findings from the conference held in Herxheim from June 14 to 17, 2007. A comprehensive analysis was conducted, drawing from various presentations and papers that discussed artifacts, human remains, and their cultural significance. Researchers utilized detailed excavation data and comparative studies from similar archaeological sites to assess the socio-cultural changes during this transition period. The results revealed significant evidence of societal stress, as indicated by the analysis of human skeletal remains, artifacts, and the material culture of the period. It was shown that changes in burial practices and material culture pointed to a possible crisis that coincided with the end of this cultural phase. Furthermore, the multidisciplinary approach underscored the complex interplay of environmental, social, and economic factors that contributed to these changes. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics that defined the end of the Bandkeramik culture. Thus, the findings highlight the necessity for ongoing research into the cultural shifts occurring during this pivotal time.
