Abstract

Language:

This study aims to analyze the content of leading educational psychology journals to identify trends and gaps in research. The objective is to assess the distribution of topics, methodologies, and theoretical frameworks used in recent publications. We conducted a systematic review of articles published in top-tier journals over the last five years, coding each article for its focus area, research design, and citation patterns. The results reveal a predominance of quantitative studies and a significant focus on learning outcomes, with limited coverage of emerging topics such as digital learning environments and cultural considerations in educational psychology. Additionally, the review highlights a reliance on traditional theoretical frameworks, suggesting a need for diversification in research approaches. Our findings provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of educational psychology research and underscore areas for future exploration, particularly those addressing the evolving educational landscape. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the scholarly discourse within educational psychology and identifies critical opportunities for further inquiry.
