This study investigates the in vivo cytotoxicity of Ti–Ni–Fe shape memory alloys, developed with varying compositions (Ti50Ni48Fe2, Ti50Ni47Fe3, Ti50Ni45Fe5) through vacuum arc melting under a purified argon atmosphere. The objective was to evaluate the biocompatibility of these alloys by implanting them in rabbits and conducting a series of blood examinations and histological analyses of vital organs, namely the liver, heart, and kidney, at intervals of 4, 8, and 12 weeks post-implantation. The results indicated that none of the Ti–Ni–Fe alloys exhibited cytotoxic effects nor systemic reactions in the living subjects across all tests performed. Furthermore, the alloys demonstrated good compatibility, suggesting their potential for direct application in in vivo medical systems. These findings reinforce the importance of Ti-based shape memory alloys in biomedical applications, given their favorable properties such as corrosion resistance and mechanical integrity.
