Wire and arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) is an increasingly significant process for fabricating components with complex geometries, especially from costly metals like Inconel 625. This study investigates the impact of various shielding gas compositions on the structure and mechanical properties of products made via WAAM. Utilizing a metal active gas (MAG) welding process, four samples were produced with differing gas mixtures, focusing on optimizing the stability and productivity of the welding parameters. The geometrical characteristics of the resulting structures were systematically analyzed, followed by conducting destructive tests on the specimens to assess their performance. The results revealed notable influences of the shielding gas composition on both the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the Inconel 625 components. The findings emphasize the importance of gas composition in achieving desired material characteristics and provide critical insights for enhancing WAAM processes.
