Particle-reinforced titanium matrix composites (TMCs) have been an area of active research in recent times due to their high specific strength, excellent mechanical properties, and resistance to corrosion, making them suitable for aerospace, automotive, and biomedical applications. This study aims to review the mechanical and physical properties of TMCs, focusing on the impact of various reinforcement phases and processing routes, particularly through powder metallurgy (PM). The review encompasses the common reinforcements used, such as carbides, borides, nitrides, oxides, silicides, and graphene/carbon-matrix materials, and examines their properties and production methods. Additionally, the study evaluates the PM techniques employed in consolidating these reinforcements in TMCs and their subsequent effects on the properties of the resulting composites. A thorough analysis of current literature and recent developments in the field of TMCs is also presented, highlighting ongoing research trends and potential future directions. The findings indicate significant advancements and emphasize the crucial role of reinforcements and production techniques in optimizing the performance of TMCs.
