Due to the growth of industry in modern civilization, energy usage has increased, necessitating power factor correction to minimize energy wastage and avoid penalties. A low power factor indicates higher current flow, which results in substantial voltage drop. This project aims to enhance the power factor of single-phase electricity through a capacitor switching method. The utility provider often imposes charges for low power factors, making it critical for industries to adopt corrective measures. The project employs a GSM module to notify users regarding the power factor of their loads and provides system error indications. By implementing this automatic power factor correction unit, we seek to minimize penalties for industrial units and improve energy utilization, aligning the power factor closer to unity. The system operates using operational amplifier circuits that generate zero voltage and zero current pulses, which are processed by a microcontroller to actuate appropriate responses. Through this methodology, the project demonstrates an efficient approach to managing power factor in industrial settings, ultimately contributing to better energy management and reduced operational costs.
