Abstract

Language:

Copper is a crucial material used for electrical connectors due to its high thermal and electrical conductivity, prompting ongoing efforts to enhance its mechanical properties without compromising its advantageous characteristics. This study aims to explore the potential of severe plastic deformation methodologies, specifically equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), to refine the microstructure of copper into an ultra-fine grained form. Through a comprehensive evaluation, significant enhancements in the mechanical, microstructural, and physical properties of pure copper processed via ECAP are documented. The findings include a detailed analysis of microstructural features alongside assessments of thermal stability, thermal conductivity, and corrosion resistance, ultimately indicating that ECAP processing significantly contributes to improved overall material performance.
