This paper presents a set of engineering project laboratory modules designed for an introductory materials course, aimed at enhancing student engagement and understanding of core concepts in materials science. The primary objective is to develop hands-on learning experiences that promote problem-solving skills and practical application of theoretical knowledge among undergraduate engineering students. The methodology involved a series of integrated laboratory modules that incorporate real-world engineering challenges, allowing students to apply material principles in a collaborative setting. Assessments were conducted through student feedback, performance metrics, and qualitative observations during the lab sessions. Results indicate an improvement in students' understanding of materials properties and engineering practices, as well as an increase in their motivation and retention in engineering programs. The modules facilitated a deeper engagement with the content, demonstrating the effectiveness of project-based learning in engineering education. This work underscores the importance of innovative teaching strategies that align with contemporary educational goals in the field of materials science. The findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on pedagogical practices in engineering education, providing a framework for future curriculum development.
