Abstract

Language:

This thesis presents a detailed exploration of local electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (LEIS) as a novel technique for characterizing delamination of coatings and corrosion phenomena in Al-Cu alloys. The objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of LEIS in providing insights into the physical and electrochemical processes occurring at the interface of materials. Employing a combination of experimental setups and data analysis methods, this study systematically investigates the impact of various environmental factors on the integrity of paints and the corrosion resistance of the alloys. The results demonstrate that LEIS can effectively detect early stages of delamination and corrosion, providing crucial data that can inform the development of more durable coatings. Furthermore, this work emphasizes the importance of understanding the electrochemical behavior of materials as a foundation for improving protective measures against corrosion. Overall, the findings contribute significantly to the field of materials science, particularly in applications related to the durability of metallic structures exposed to aggressive environments.
