The aim of this study was to obtain a high grade and yield percentage of iron concentrate from a specularite ore by using wet magnetic separation and reverse flotation techniques. The research investigates the effectiveness of these methodologies in enhancing the recovery of iron from low-grade ores. The methodologies implemented included the separation of iron oxides from gangue materials utilizing magnetic susceptibility as a key factor, followed by flotation processes aimed at upgrading the concentrate further when impurities were present. Experimental results indicated significant improvements in the yield and grade of iron concentrates obtained from the specularite ores processed. Furthermore, the findings highlight the advantages of magnetic separation in terms of operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional methods. The study concludes that combining magnetic separation with flotation can substantially increase the effectiveness of iron ore processing, positioning these techniques as vital for the economic viability of low-grade iron ore deposits. This research contributes valuable insights into optimizing iron ore beneficiation processes in the steelmaking industry.
