Abstract

Language:

Excessive variability in process performance often results in waste and rework. For improvement in quality and productivity, process variation needs to be reduced, which is where Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques are utilized. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the applicability of SPC techniques across various manufacturing industries, emphasizing the role of control charts in measuring process variation and promoting continuous improvement through various methodologies, including the basic 7 QC tools. The research involved a selection of various articles and case studies that showcase the implementation of these strategies in real-world industrial settings. Results indicate that effective use of SPC can lead to significant enhancements in production quality and efficiency, highlighting the importance of management involvement and teamwork in the successful application of SPC frameworks. This paper aims to provide insights into how SPC can transform manufacturing processes by reducing variability and improving overall product quality.
