A common method used in the identification of hydrodynamics phenomena occurring in Continuous Casting (CC) device’s tundish is to determine the residence time distribution (RTD) curves of time. These curves allow for the understanding of the liquid steel flow and mixing in the tundish. The identification can be carried out through numerical simulations or experimental methods, based on research conducted on physical models. A significant challenge lies in objectifying these results during physical testing. Precise determination of time constants that characterize the analyzed phenomena is imperative, using data gathered from measuring the concentration change of the tracer in the model liquid volume. The mathematical description of the determined curves is founded on complex differential equations formulated in fluid mechanics theory. Solving these equations to compute the time constants typically necessitates special software and presents time-consuming challenges. To refine this process, a novel method employing automation elements has been developed to calculate the time constants, facilitating the solution of problems using algebraic methods that enhance the interpretation of physical modeling research results.
