This paper presents some possibilities to transform some landfills with solid wastes (e.g. ash from power stations or wastes from a wastewater chemical treatment station) into agricultural or forest soils. By covering these surfaces with a thin layer of soil and cultivating them with vegetation (e.g. Raigras aristat), a grass carpet is prepared that contributes to soil fixation, aesthetic improvements, and environmental protection through atmosphere purification and dust retention. The document addresses the increasing problem of environmental pollution due to solid waste generation, expected to reach 15 billion tons globally by 2000. It highlights the significant quantity of ash produced by thermoelectric energy, emphasizing its adverse effects on soil quality and landscape aesthetics. The conversion of waste dumps into productive agricultural lands is discussed as a viable solution to mitigate pollution and enhance ecological health. Additionally, it notes the need for studying the behavior of various plant species on waste-affected soils to provide insights into creating clean and healthy environments. The study underscores the importance of transforming industrial byproducts into viable land resources through recultivation techniques.
