This article focuses on the geochemical assessment procedures that are vital for evaluating the safety of nuclear waste disposal sites. The objective is to establish a comprehensive framework that integrates geochemical modeling and safety assessments to predict the long-term behavior of radionuclides in the environment. Utilizing a multi-stage methodology, the authors conducted extensive literature reviews, field studies, and geochemical modeling to analyze various geological formations and their capacity to contain radioactive waste. Results illustrated several geochemical processes influencing radionuclide migration, including solubility variations, adsorption phenomena, and transport mechanisms. This study concludes that a geochemically based safety assessment is crucial for ensuring the sustainability and safety of nuclear waste management, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding site selection and remediation strategies.
