The wave-particle duality of photons, as proposed by Einstein, gained acceptance by the early 1920s, while de Broglie's hypothesis in 1924 about the wave-particle duality of matter fueled the development of quantum mechanics. This assertion, which challenges common sense, raises the question: what is the matter with de Broglie waves? This paper aims to address this inquiry by demonstrating the origin and significance of de Broglie waves through the 'prime physis' quantity 'eta', which has appeared in preceding research. The study details how 'eta' enables the definition of various physical quantities and leads to the derivation of fundamental principles, including conservation laws and the quantization of energy. By focusing on one spatial dimension for clarity, the paper explores essential derivations, linking 'eta' to concepts such as energy, momentum, force, temperature, and entropy. The findings extend to classical and quantum mechanics, reflecting on foundational laws such as Newton's Second Law and the uncertainty principle. In conclusion, the formulation presented here elaborates on the role of 'eta' in comprehending the dynamics of de Broglie waves and its implications for the broader context of physics.
