Abstract

Language:

Mössbauer spectra of Fe2−xZnxMoO4 spinel ferrites were recorded in their paramagnetic state to investigate the nature of magnetic interactions due to Zn substitution. The objective was to understand the effects of varying zinc content on the properties of the ferrites. The methodology involved preparing solid solutions of Fe2−yZnyMoO4 and analyzing their Mössbauer spectra, which exhibited broad absorption peaks attributed to Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions located on both A and B sites of the spinel lattice. Results showed that the spectra fitted with four doublets, revealing the presence of various iron ions, including FeB 2.5+, indicative of charge hopping between Fe2+ and Fe3+ on the B-sites. Additionally, the measurements of electrical resistivity and magnetic properties corroborated these findings, suggesting significant charge dynamics influenced by Zn substitution. The study provides insight into the magnetic interactions and structural properties of zinc-substituted iron molybdate, highlighting the subtle effects of dopants in modifying semiconducting behaviors.
