China is the world’s largest producer and consumer of non-ferrous metals. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the research and commercial application of pressure leaching technology to produce various nonferrous metals. The objective of this paper is to review key developments in this area, including low-pressure, low-temperature leaching technology for complex copper concentrates, as well as hematite processes and pressure leaching-solvent extraction techniques for zinc, molybdenum, and rhenium. The methodology encompasses an analysis of both research initiatives and commercial applications, detailing examples from multiple plants in China—including a two-stage pressure leach technology in Danxia and a direct leaching technology in Zhuzhou. The results demonstrate notable advancements in pressure leaching practices, as well as efforts to recover lead, vanadium, gallium, germanium, and precious metals. Additionally, the paper discusses the evolving landscape of non-ferrous metal production facilitated by these innovations. Overall, the findings underscore the importance of pressure leaching technology in improving metal recovery processes in China.
