This paper presents solutions and the equipment for preheating combustion air from scrap aluminum melting furnaces through flue gas heat recovery. For sizing convection pre-heaters, a mathematical model has been developed and transcribed into a computer program in C++. A constructive version of the pre-heater was designed, and a recovery heat exchanger was manufactured and installed on an aluminum melting furnace. The study details the values of the functional parameters and addresses the reasons for the pre-heater's wear, alongside the procedures for sizing and creating a new air pre-heater capable of withstanding the operating conditions typical of aluminum melting furnaces. This work aims to enhance operational efficiency and optimize fuel usage in aluminum processing by implementing heat recovery systems effectively.
