This chapter discusses the sampling and analytical methods utilized at the Anamax Mining Company's Twin Buttes mine, focusing on the historical context and objectives of orebody definition. The primary aim is to delineate the orebody's boundaries and evaluate its mineral content to determine economic viability. Employing diverse sampling techniques including diamond drilling, percussion drilling, and excavation of underground shafts, the chapter highlights the necessity of comprehensive geological assessments. The outcomes of these sampling efforts have been instrumental in establishing the framework for three metallurgical processing plants, enabling the processing of ore as it is extracted. Key findings indicate that both sulfide and oxide processing operations were successfully initiated, with a significant sulfide concentrator operational since September 1969 and an oxide leaching plant since May 1975. The chapter underlines the importance of analytical methods in supporting the evaluations carried out by geologists, metallurgists, and mine planners, ultimately contributing to the effective management and development of the mining operations.
