Inconel 625 is a nickel-based superalloy known for its high-temperature strength and excellent corrosion resistance, attributed to its single-phase γ matrix strengthened by molybdenum and niobium solutes. However, during welding, thermal cycles can cause uneven migration of these alloying elements, leading to the formation of brittle phases and residual stresses, which ultimately reduce ductility and degrade wear behavior. This study aims to investigate the effects of Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) on the microstructure and tensile properties of Inconel 625. Using experimental procedures, samples were subjected to varying PWHT processes followed by a series of mechanical tests and microstructural analysis. The results indicated that PWHT significantly improves the ductility and tensile strength of Inconel 625 by reducing residual stresses and promoting a more uniform distribution of alloying elements. Additionally, the presence of undesirable phases was mitigated, enhancing the overall material performance. These findings are crucial for engineering applications where Inconel 625 is employed, particularly in high-stress and high-temperature environments.
