Abstract

Language:

In the past few years, extractive metallurgy has been advancing gradually, despite the absence of remarkable new ideas. This paper aims to summarize the progress made in the field, focusing on the recent advancements in metallurgical literature and the proliferation of meetings dedicated to this area of study. A comprehensive review of these developments is provided, with a particular emphasis on the proceedings of various conferences which have been published as valuable resources. The findings suggest that while innovation may have been limited, the consolidation and dissemination of existing knowledge have been significant, reflecting a broader evolution in the practices and understandings within extractive metallurgy. This study not only highlights the trends in research but also points toward areas requiring further exploration, suggesting a need for continued engagement among scholars and practitioners in the discipline. Overall, this article serves as both a report on current standings and a call to action for future investigations into extractive metallurgy. Consequently, the field is marked by incremental improvements that enrich the existing body of knowledge and effectively nurture the ongoing dialogue among metallurgists.
