This special issue of the Giornale di Didattica e Cultura della Società Chimica Italiana provides insights from the ICCE ECRICE 2012 conference held in Rome, which aimed to bring together major stakeholders in the field of Chemical Education from IUPAC and EUCHEMS. The objective of the conference was to discuss the evolving role of Chemistry in society and its interaction with various disciplines, including Museology, Ethics, and Communication Science. The methodology included assembling a range of contributions reflecting the topics addressed at the conference, such as problem-solving approaches, the impact of ICT and multimedia in Chemistry education, and the training of Chemistry teachers. The results suggest a rich dialogue among educators and researchers, emphasizing the need for innovation and quality in Chemical Education. The contributions provided in this issue serve not only as a record of the conference but also as a resource for enhancing educational practices in the field, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement in the teaching and learning of Chemistry.
